JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Grants?Development?Officer
OFFICE BASE: Dublin/Remote
REPORT TO: Director of Business Development
OVERALL PURPOSE & LEVEL:
The purpose of this?role, which is part of
the?Business?_Development?Team_,?is to?support
the?continued?growth?and expansion?of?the organisation.?The
primary focus is on?the?identification of opportunities that can
help grow The Wheel?s existing and new programmes?in a range of
strategic?areas and ensure the ongoing sustainability of The
Wheel?s services into the future.?The post holder will be expected
to?have an aptitude for anticipating future trends in the sector and
to?help position The Wheel accordingly by taking advantage of funding
opportunities.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
The post holder will develop and maintain positive professional
relationships particularly with colleagues, community and voluntary
organisations and the range of people and organisations with
whom?they?are?in contact via email, phone, in person
etc.?They?will?be expected to?work in a respectful, coordinated
and integrated way with colleagues, and in such a way as to encourage
the best from, and support the efforts of, others.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
_RESEARCH & GRANT WRITING_
* Have a full understanding of The Wheel?s strategy and areas for
growth and development so as to identify funding opportunities for the
organisation
* Write relevant and compelling proposals, tender documents,
applications and other materials
* Conduct research to identify potential funders and prospective
collaborative partners which may be suitable to receive an application
or an approach from The Wheel
* Monitor?all?calls, notices, newsletters,?etenders?and other
relevant sources of funding information?to ensure The Wheel
maintains?a pipeline of relevant potential funders and a timetable of
upcoming funding calls and deadlines
* Work with The Wheel's Information Manager to assist in the
research and updating of our?Fundingpoint?database of funding
grants, as directed.
* Write narrative and financial reports for funders, management and
board as appropriate
* Develop internal?processes to ensure?easy decision-making?on
applications to progress to submission stage.
* Develop internal relationships with all the units within The Wheel
to support their work and ensure that their strategic priorities are
being considered for funding.
* When new funding applications are secured ensure there are
internal systems in place to successfully brief, train, and handover
the project to the programme delivery team who are put in place
* Provide?training, webinars and other forms of
information?exchange to?members?on grant writing and grant
research?issues and?all other related topics of expertise
_DEVELOPMENT_
* Develop relationships through meetings, calls and networking to
support the?continued growth and development of The Wheel in both
existing and new areas
* Provide support to corporates, suppliers and other partners when
partnering with the organisation on key?pprgrammes?(such as our
annual conference and awards programmes etc)
* Support the running of?tender processes for the procurement of
services for our members from potential suppliers
_MARKETING_
* Work closely with The Wheel communications and marketing
personnel?to?ensure that The Wheel, its websites and other
communications assets (hard or soft copy) are used to their full
potential in terms of development for The Wheel.
* Work closely with The Wheel communications and marketing
personnel?to?ensure The Wheel has relevant marketing and promotional
assets to send to prospective partners and funders
_GENERAL DUTIES_
* Actively protect The Wheel?s integrity through honesty, sincerity
and service to its members whilst promoting the benefits of
association with The Wheel.
* Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all
colleagues in The Wheel.
* Take ownership of, and project manage specific work projects as
they arise.
* Provide assistance?and advice?to members in relation to
fundraising, business development and marketing related matters ? by
phone, email and face-to-face.
* Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be assigned by the
Chief Executive Officer or other senior management from time to time.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL?EXPERIENCE?& KNOWLEDGE:
_MINIMUM EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED_
* At least 3?years??in?a grant writing, research, sales or
business development role
* A proven track record in?writing compelling funding applications
* Excellent project management skills
* Excellent copywriting and editing skills
* Creativity and ability to devise programmes and proposals
from?first principles
* Natural curiosity and interest in working on new opportunities
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport easily

TERMS & CONDITIONS
This is a full-time permanent position with The Wheel.
The Wheel has a salary-band framework and a detailed Remuneration

The annual gross salary for this?role?is?in?the range of

experience of the person who occupies it, and will be decided
accordingly.?This contract is for a **Apply on the website**-hour
week and?salary is?payable monthly in arrears.

The Wheel?s offices are located in Dublin 2.?Due to the impacts of
Covid all staff currently work remotely and it is anticipated that
remote or blended working will continue to be offered to employees in
a post Covid work environment.?This role?will?require travel?and
attendance at meetings both in the office and on The Wheel?s behalf.
Travel outside of the office?is reimbursed according to our expenses
policy. Additionally, the role?may?require?participation in
meetings which can occur in the evenings and at weekends.
